IUC-YS is an autonomous body of UGC established as the Inter-University Centre for yogic sciences under section 12(ccc) of the UGC Act, 1956.

The primary objective of the Inter-University Centre for Yogic Sciences (IUC-YS) is to establish within the university system world-class facilities to conduct conferences,  training, and research in yoga along with the development of curriculum, textbooks, supplementary material, newsletters, journals in teaching yoga sciences and to promulgate information regarding the effective yogic practices to enhance the mental, physical, behavioral, social aspect of the human well being and its therapeutic usage to cure human health and diseases. IUC-YS serves as a platform for pupils with an interest in yogic sciences. IUC-YS Aims at unraveling and unveiling the scientific phenomena lying behind yoga sciences. It also works in collaboration with different universities and institutions at the national and international levels. “Yoga” emanates from the Sanskrit word ‘yug’, meaning ‘to join’ or ‘to unite’. It is the path of attaining higher consciousness by dissolving one’s ego in order to accomplish an alignment with the universal energy. It is an art of living and science to achieve a healthy and prosperous life. Regular yoga practices help in refining one’s mind, body, and conscience at an optimal level.

“Yoga is a way by which a person can discharge his duties efficiently with mental equilibrium” ~ Bhagwat Geeta

Yogic science is a scientific approach to teaching yoga practices like asanas that focus on the interaction between the physical body and mind to raise consciousness, creating the ability to make wise decisions in the present moment, improving health at the biochemical and molecular level and curing deformities of the body.

The practice of Yogic can furnish long-lasting comfort and brilliance of determination and confidence that enable us to be pragmatic and make skillful choices with positive and healing outcomes.

IUC-YS have defined academic disciplines and has had a transformative impact on fields like Yogic Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, Molecular Biology, Human Physiology and Biochemistry. We have dedicated research and technical support staff, who work together in an interactive multidisciplinary eco-system.

State-of-the-art facilities with experimental labs having all its constituent units will serve as a key center for facilitating analytical and research assistance in Yogic sciences, Ayurveda, Chronobiology, Human Physiology, and Naturopathy.

IUC-YS also intend to participate in Coordinated Research Project (CRP) for facilitating access to “guests” from all Member states. IUC-YS is currently operating from the premises of the Inter-University Accelerator Centre (IUAC), Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, New Delhi – 110067 (camp office). IUC on YS will lay its independent division foundation in Shortly (underway).

The world is increasingly multipolar and hyper-connected, with wealth, power, and information being ever more widely diffused. As countries work to make sense of the rapidly changing context and adjust strategies accordingly, the soft power resources at the disposal of governments will be a critical part of the foreign policy tools needed going forward. The government of India can act as a vehicle for the process by facilitating the creation and dispersion of positive thoughts and depictions of the State, which includes Yoga, fine arts, music, culture, ideologies, and spirituality, etc.

We invite you to visit our campus and other facilities, explore and enquire about the programs and activities that interest you, and participate in the vital yogic science research community once the vision comes to its reality.
