Yogic-Science & Society:
This is a critical period for science, in particular in our country. The world is going global, and new technologies have created intense competition for business, carriers, and education. It is necessary to effectively participate in a knowledge-oriented development process and develop a competitive edge in the era of globalization and internationalization. Post-graduate education in Yoga Sciences in an environment where research in frontier and exciting areas is being pursued is an essential part of planning Human Resource Development capable of taking up the challenges in the future. It is recommended that the Development of institutions such as the Science & Technology Park in order to adopt a dynamic approach with appropriate elements in their structure to ensure that they remain centers of excellence with the objectives have to be planned in a phased manner with goals commensurate with national needs and internationally competitive in the relevant fields must be initiated by the IUC-YS. If necessary, each phase will have certain milestones associated with academic audit and appropriate restructuring for the next phase. To promote and propagate – as widely as possible - a scientific and rational outlook in society. The following activities based on large-scale science and technology popularisation programs were recommended for being taken up by the IUC-YS as a nodal center:
(a) Mobile Science Exhibition: The Mobile Science Exhibition will be meant to bring the knowledge of yogic science to the doorstep of the typical person, especially students living in rural areas.
(b) Popular yogic science lectures: Popular Yogic Science Lectures regularly organized by all Centres will be intended to create awareness amongst school students, teachers, and visitors about the latest developments in science and technology. The lectures will be delivered by eminent scientists, doctors, etc., on current scientific issues of topical interest.
(c) Yogic-Science demonstration lecture: Yogic-Science Demonstration Lectures will be arranged to impress upon the students and teachers that lectures in classrooms could be made more exciting and enjoyable using exciting experiments with the aid of low-cost kits and demonstration equipment. This aspect of teaching will act as a supplement to formal science education in schools.
(d) Nature study / Environment awareness camp: Nature study camps will be regularly organized under environment awareness programs. Student members and other participants will be taken to such camps to study a particular ecosystem.
(e) Yogic-Science quiz: Yogic-Science Quiz Contest shall be a regular park activity. Written and oral contests will be organized on a knock-out basis for schools in the city, town, or district. The objective will be to instill a sense of competition and enhance the interest and knowledge of students in yogic science. Questions will be asked on the exhibits to evaluate their understanding.
(f) Science fair/camp: To organize a Yogic-Science Fair in which working experiments/models could be displayed and explained by students & Faculties of the University.
(g) Yogic-Science seminar: Yogic Science Seminars will offer a suitable platform for students to express their understanding and views on subjects of interest.
(h) Vacation hobby workshop: The creative yogic-science activities for students will be conducted to inculcate an attitude of scientific inquiry and to encourage students in experimentation and innovation. The center will offer the participants constructive guidance, environment, and facilities. During summer and Diwali vacations, creative science and hobby activities shall be conducted every year.
(i) Teachers' training program: Teachers' Training Program will be envisaged to provide an opportunity and exposure to secondary/primary school teachers in handling tools & raw materials.
(j) Yogic Science film show: Yogic Science film show program will be a regular activity in the park in the open air and at mobile science exhibition sites. Films on essential topics of yoga science & technology will be screened.
(k) International Yoga Day (IDY): IUC-YS shall popularise Yoga every year on the occasion of IDYs.
